Is sustainability boring?
A friend suggested to me recently that sustainability is boring. Who needs enemies eh? but...
In a sense sustainability is boring because sustainability is about living within limits. Plenty of people find it much more fun being irresponsible and disregarding consequences.
Living within limits isn't really boring though – it's just life. The ultimate satisfactions we get from life are about thriving, yes, but not at the expense of others. It's like playing a game – a game is fun because it's a game and because it has rules. If it had no rules the game wouldn't last.
It is always more enjoying and fulfilling to win a game playing by the rules than if you win by cheating.
And in the real game of life just playing by the rules is winning. If you don't play by the rules your descendants lose.
