The worst packaging: individually wrapped prunes!
I have often used the individually wrapped Sunsweet prunes as an example of unsustainable packaging and it seems many other people think the same way.
Recently, 9000 people voted for the Unpackit Packaging Awards. The Sunsweet Prunes took the award for worst packaging. The award for best packaging went to friends of Econation, Potatopak, who we have featured in a case study on our website.
It was great to see that the runners-up in the best packaging were Speights swap-a-crate and the traditional egg-carton. Whilst Potatopak is an innovative way to turn a waste-stream (starch from potato chip manufacture) into an eco-friendly alternative many of the best packaging designs are tried-and-true traditional solutions.
Congratulations again to Potatopak!
