There are sustainable solutions for all unsustainable practices. The challenge is to know what they are and to make sense of them. This section of the website does just that – it describes sustainable solutions for energy, water, waste, food and goods.

Sustainable solutions
Humans are the problem AND we are also the solution. We cannot bring back species from extinction but we can stop others from going extinct. We cannot clean the atmosphere overnight but we can neutralise our greenhouse gas emissions.
How do we change? Here’s how:
- Know what damage is being done and how; then
- Take responsibility for this damage individually AND collectively; then
- Learn how to live and act responsibly; then
- Live and act responsibly.
Multiple benefits In most cases there are multiple benefits for putting into practice sustainable alternatives which are often:
- Cheaper
- Healthier
- Good for the environment
- Good for society
- Good for business
Sustianability is the responsibility of everyone. However there are so many areas in which solutions can be implemented. It is possible to categorise solutions based on the section of society that is responsible for implementing the solution. These categories are described here.
The focus of Econation is on individuals, families and organisations, especially small-medium sized businesses. Information about solutions that can be implemented by these groups can be accessed from the main menu – Energy, Water, Goods (materials, consumer goods, products and services), Waste and Business.
